For over 15 years, the Advanced Spine Center has been treating patients for whiplash that resulted from auto accidents. The latest technologies, Digital Motion X-Ray and Standup MRI, determine exactly the damage sustained in a crash and substantiate your injuries. The doctor uses tried and true treatment protocols to improve your health and if necessary, help you adapt to any impairment.

We know you are barraged by attorney ads on TV and billboards but remember all cases are based on the injuries that can be unquestionably proven. The lawyer that represents you must be capable and experienced in defending you with a firm understanding of soft tissue injuries that will affect your activities of daily living and future health. Many attorneys are not familiar with the latest technologies and therefore shy away from taking your case to the courts, which of course has a negative effect on the settlement value of the case. Believe me when I say, the insurance companies know this and take full advantage of their lack of understanding of soft tissue damage.

Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX) is a series of x-rays put together to show function as well as anatomy. When it comes to whiplash damage, the DMX is by far the best diagnostic instrument to determine the extent of the damage to your spine, especially the neck. A DMX is particularly useful in determining the extent of soft tissue damage in the top one-third of the neck where there are no discs, only supportive tissue. A weight-bearing MRI correlates to any ligament damage and assesses the health of the discs in the lower two thirds of the neck.

Whiplash injuries, especially those caused by low speed rear end collisions, include serious ligament damage in the spine causing abnormal spinal biomechanics as well as brain damage. Whiplash injuries of the neck cause neck pain, headaches; pain that extends into one or both shoulders and forearms; shoulder pain, dizziness; loss of concentration; reduced ranges of motion; thyroid condition; vision and/or hearing disturbance; muscle weakness; loss of reflexes and/or numbness/ tingling into the face or arms and fingers. Whiplash can also cause mid and/or low back pain as a result of the sudden stop against the seat belt. Intervertebral disc herniations and their associated symptoms are included in the sequence of events that follow an auto accident. The symptoms may appear immediately or may take several months to surface. In our experience, these symptoms do not go away on their own and require medical intervention.

The Advanced Spine Center treatment protocols include mild chiropractic manipulation using Cox flexion-distraction; Thompson drop and/or instrument adjusting techniques. Healing occurs over time with the use of intersegmental traction; heat/cold; electric stimulation, and the use of several powerful soft tissue techniques that include Active Release Technique and/or Post Isometric Relaxation. Therapeutic exercises along with Static Contraction techniques have had positive influence on patient outcomes. Along with the therapies, we recommend the patient takes nutritional supplements to provide increase healing biochemistry as well as natural anti-inflammatories.
